Group Pushes To Shield State Parks From Drilling
PennFuture, a statewide environmental group, has launched a campaign to protect State park land. The group wants to protect the State land from gas drilling.
PennFuture has requested that gas companies to voluntarily sign a pledge not to drill in State parks or buy gas supplies drilled there. PennFuture would like to see lawmakers enact a large special impact fee for any drilling in State parks that disturbs the land surface.
At the present time, PennFuture is working with lawmakers to introduce bills to discourage drilling on park land that disturbs the land surface.
