Corbett Offers Drilling Fee Plan
Governor Corbett has proposed letting counties that host wells to collect and disburse an impact fee. The plan would allow the counties with operating wells to choose whether to adopt the per well fee.
The Governor has proposed that each Marcellus Shale well pay an impact fee of $40,000 the first year of operation, $30,000 the second year; $20,000 the third year and $10,000 in the fourth through tenth years in counties that adopt an impact fee.
