The Supreme Court issued a decision that removed all prohibitions and caps on corporations concerning political fund-raising. Corporations now have no limits on amounts they spend for political advertising both for and against political candidates. Now, groups with the most money can spend as much as they want to push whatever political agenda they want.

This can have great repercussions on civil litigants, including potentially allowing insurance companies to lobby to get their politicians into office. The ruling could lead to legislation that is very harmful to people injured in car accidents or people hurt on the job.

As President Obama said in his State of the Union Address on January 27, 2010, American elections should not be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests. We must urge our Senators and Congressmen to write legislation to bring the power back to the People.
