Attorney Kevin M. Conaboy of the law firm of Abrahamsen, Conaboy & Abrahamsen, P.C., Milford, recently secured a jury verdict in the amount of $39,800.00 on behalf of a client injured in an April, 2009, motor vehicle accident. It is anticipated that with the addition of interest the total recovery will exceed $40,000.00. The three day trial was conducted before the Honorable Gregory Chelak in the Court of Common Pleas of Pike County.
Sifting Through The Record - How Social Security Is Supposed To Review Medical Opinions In The File
In any given Claimant s record before the Social Security Administration, there are usually three different types of medical opinions. There are opinions from treating sources and non-treating sources. The non-treating sources opinions are divided among physicians who actually examined the Claimant and those who simply reviewed medical records and rendered opinions on the Claimant s ability to function. In most cases, because of expenses or time, the opinions from the above mentioned sources are in a checklist format. The issue remains how the Social Security Administration should review such opinions.

In April, 2010, Arizona passed one of the toughest immigration laws in the country. The law requires immigrants to carry their alien registration documents with them at all times, and permits police to question people if a police officer believes that they are in the United States illegally. The law also targets businesses that hire immigrant laborers or knowingly transport them. In this respect, the law is similar to a law enacted by the City of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, which was ultimately determined to be unconstitutional.
